Darby’s Concert Orchestra performed Saturday, March 16 at the Central Ohio String Invitational adjudicated event held at Hilliard Memorial Middle School. The orchestra’s program consisted of “Shores of Ireland,” by Susan Day; “Allegro from Concerto Grosso, Op. 6 No. 1” by George Frideric Handel; and “Danza” by Vaclav Nelhybel. The orchestra performed for a panel of three adjudicators, each of whom provided recorded and written comments and assigned a rating to the group’s performance; the orchestra then participated in a 30-minute clinic session on their program with Dr. James Bates, professor of music at Otterbein University. The ensemble earned a Superior rating (the highest rating) from all three adjudicators. This is only the second time the Concert Orchestra has competed in performance, and their second consecutive Superior rating. Well done, Concert Orchestra members!
